I don’t think I’m out of line for saying that today wasn’t a great day for SDCC. Not only was the convention mostly uneventful outside of a few trailers and panels, but what took place outside the Con had a bigger impact. The sweaty one Jon Schnepp has passed away and James Gunn was fired by Disney because of old tweets, tough day for comic book movie fans.
But there were some good nuggets of news to come out of SDCC so I’ll mix things up to keep it light.
Young Justice: The Outsiders Trailer Released:
DC Comics released the first trailer for season 3 of the fan favorite animated series Young Justice. The video retells what happened prior to the new season and then kicks into gear with new footage featuring The Outsiders. It’s a solid first look at the series which will be released exclusively on the DC Universe streaming service.
Originally posted the article without the latest film news that four DC Animated movies were announced including the classic Batman: Hush. Joining it in 2019 will be: The Reign of Supermen, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, and Justice League vs. The Fatal Five.
Forgot to add to the SDCC Highlight article that the DC Animated movie Batman: Hush was announced.
Along with The Reign of Supermen, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, and Justice League vs. The Fatal Five.

Jon Schnepp Passes Away:
Jon Schnepp was a huge comic book fan that was beloved in the community. He was the main reason I started watching the YouTube channel Collider. He talked about a lot of movies but it’s his comic book show Collider Heroes that I watched the most. He also directed the fantastic documentary “The Death of Superman Lives,” which told the story of the failed Tim Burton Superman movie that would have starred Nicholas Cage. He served as director on the animated TV series Metalocalypse and Black Panther.
Today, his wife Holly Payne announced on her Twitter thar Schnepp had passed away yesterday following a massive stroke he had just a few days ago. I always loved to look up his thoughts on the latest comic book movie. His death is a blow to our community because he was the example of comic book nerd that many should aspire to be. He was passionate about these properties but always treated everyone with respect. This is why I felt it was appropriate to talk about it in this article. Rest in Peace Jon, thank you for all the wonderful content you created. Stay sweaty.
The hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. Our statement regarding @JonSchnepp from myself & the Schnepp family. Our hearts are heavy. Please respect our privacy. We are still raising money for his costly medical expenses. Thank you for your support. https://t.co/2qg7a9LcJG pic.twitter.com/hBfW7l7A5M

The CW Teases Big DCTV Crossover/Batwoman:
It was announced recently that Batwoman would be joining the Arrowverse as well as getting her own show. Today The CW teased the major event that would bring Kate Kane to the small-screen in an awesome trailer.
DC Comics Panel Announcments:
DC Comics’ Batfamily panel was today and if you thought they were done after yesterday, you couldn’t have been anymore wrong.
First up, Batman is getting a new look, new as an old. The classic costume will return because Bruce Wayne wants nothing to do with Catwoman, especially the batsuit he wore while they were together. It sounds childish, I mean I’ve broken up before and it’s not fun, but I didn’t burn all my clothes and dig up my old shirts. Then again I really do love the old look.

Batman and Mister Miracle writer Tom King held some cult-like therapeutic event to promote his upcoming Heroes in Crisis story. They also announced that the even would be drawn by the infinitely talented Clay Mann and Mitch Gerads. The limited series is due out this September.
This morning in San Diego, @TomKingtK and DC recreated Sanctuary, a recovery center for heroes, to lead a group of journalists through a therapeutic session as King discussed his own past struggles with anxiety and how it influenced HEROES IN CRISIS—out 9/26. #DCSDCC #SDCC2018 pic.twitter.com/T7z1snjKb9

Superstar writer Scott Snyder announced he and artist Jock would be doing a six issue mini-series based on the Dark Nights: Metal character Batman Who Laughs. The Jokerized dark knight will be returning to Gotham City and bringing along an even more dangerous version of Bruce Wayne. The promo art makes the new character look like Batman crossed with Punisher.

Non-DC:
Disney have fired director James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to some old controversial tweets he made years ago, but were recently dug up. If this sounds familiar, it’s because Gunn received a large amount of criticism for his tweets back when he was hired to direct the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. He would apologize and people would move on – until someone who disagreed with his political opinions dug the awful tweets back up.
It doesn’t matter what side you’re on, if you follow US politics then you know what the deal is. So I’ll just say: both people involved are trash and to hell with them both in my opinion.
If you want to see what Gunn tweeted, then google it. I couldn’t possibly post that stuff on here, but I’ll link to the EW article.
The trailer for GLASS was finally released and I hear it’s fantastic. I haven’t seen it yet because I haven’t gotten around to watching Split yet. Though I obviously know the twist already. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then go watch Split before seeing this trailer!
Season 7 trailer for Voltron: Legendary Defender was unveiled at comic con. Also some stuff concerning “shipping” that I didn’t dig into. All I know is the show is amazing and I can’t wait for more.
Joss Whedon is set to reboot Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Why they wouldn’t just make a sequel series featuring a new slayer is beyond me, but this show open up with instant backlash from hardcore fans because of it.
The trailer for season 9 of The Walking Dead is out. It is the final season for Rick Grimes actor Andrew Lincoln, who will be leaving the show to pursue other interests. In related news: this will also be MY final season. Seriously, how do you continue a show without the main character?
Best selling author EK Johnston will be writing a novel based on Padme titled Queen’s Shadow. That sounds pretty cool if you’re a Star Wars fan.

Star Trek: Discovery dropped a new trailer for Season 2. Also it got revealed that Spock would be showing up. I may actually give it a shot now.
Invader Zim returns to Nikelodeon in a TV Movie titled “Enter the Florpus.” Nick released a trailer that has no actual lines but plenty of new footage.
Maybe it’s because I’m not looking hard enough, but Marvel Comics news is scarce. The only news I found was:
– Spider-Gwen officially renamed to Ghost Spider.
– Writers Tini Howard, Matt Rosenberg, and Vita Ayala are relaunching Marvel Knights with Don Cates.
– Cloak & Dagger returning for season 2 on Freeform
– Spider-Geddon announced. (That’s as much as I know about it and I’m a Spider-Man fan)
