DC News Bulletin collects all the news from the week that we either missed or didn’t think was fit for its own post. It features news from the DCEU, DCTV, DC Animated, and of course DC Comics.
I thought it was a slow week but the further I went down the rabbit hole, the more news I found. Wonder Woman 2 hired and Expendable writer, she’ll need all the help she gets if she faces off with Star Wars in December. Nightwing and Deathstroke DCEU tidbits also hit the net. There’s some cool comic news that involves a certain Dark Knight and some pizza eating turtles.
Wonder Wars: Disney announced that Star Wars Episode IX will be coming out December 20, 2019, a week after Wonder Woman. So expect somem kind of change because Warner Bros. is smart. It has a few dates in the future to play with, but they’ve moved a film sooner than expected before. I can’t imagine they’d stay and compete though I’d wind up supporting both films anyway.
Wonder Woman writer hired: Batman-News gave us a heads up on a THR report that says Patty Jenkins has brought screenwriter Dave Callaham(The Expendables) in to help with the Wonder Woman 2 script. If you’re wondering why, it’s because she enjoyed working with him on the film Jackpot. I’m still shocked over the news that The Expendables actually had a writer.
Nightwing: Collider had a chance to sit down with director Chris McKay and ask him about working on the upcoming Nightwing movie. He gushed over the character and seems like a big fan. He had this to say about he movie: I didn’t censor it, so if you can’t read bad words then skip ahead.
“It’s gonna be a fucking badass action movie with a lot of heart and emotion. It’s gonna be a crazy, fun ride. Whoever gets cast as Nightwing, and any of the other actors around, are gonna go through a fucking boot camp experience because it’s gonna be a lot. I’m not gonna do a lot of CG. It’s gonna be all real shit. It’s gonna be real stuntwork, and they’re gonna need to do all of the stuff on camera and do it credibly. For the cast and the crew, it’s gonna be a visceral experience, and for the audience. It’s not gonna be like a lot of these movies where there’s a lot of CG and flying, and things like that. Everything he does is gonna have to be real. His superpower is being really fucking good, as a human being, at fighting and gymnastics and shit like that, so you’re gonna see that on screen. It’s gonna be fun!”
Deathstroke: Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that Deathstroke is returning to the show because WB’s plans have changed for the character.
No duh, I’ve been saying this since they killed of the Suicide Squad on Arrow. People said it doesn’t mean anything because there are two Flashs but it does. You don’t kill on Deathstroke, Amanda Waller, and Black Canary for nothing. A version of Canary returned, which I wouldn’t be surprised if it also was a result of WB’s plans changing. Remember the Gotham Sirens and Birds of Prey rumors?
Anyway, it doesn’t mean Deathroke in film is done for. It could just be that they don’t need the character right away, because The Batman was pushed back, or he will be part of Nightwing in the future. DCTV bends to the DCEU’s will, stop being surprise by this.
New Justice League creative team: DC Comics has announced the new creative team for Justice League. Writer Christopher Priest(Deathstroke) and Artist Pete Woods(Action Comics) will be taking over on issue #34.
Priest had this to say to CBR about his upcoming Justice League run:
According to Priest, he will take a “what if these characters actually existed in the real world?” approach to the team. “Is the Justice League still relevant?” he posited. “What are their goals and how do we define them? In the ‘real’ world, how would various societies around the globe view this pantheon of godlike beings?”
Nightwing/Green Lanterns switch up: It was announced via CBR, that Sam Humphries will be taking over Nightwing. Bernard Chang will be the artist on the first run which will be titled Nightwing: Untouchable.
So Nightwing and Green Lanterns are essentially switching writers. Humphries has been amazing on Green Lanterns and Tim Seeley was just as good on his Nightwing run. No doubt they’ll be great on their new books.
Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: DC and IDW announced they are coming out with a sequel to their big crossover between Batman and the Ninja Turtles. James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II will return as the creative team behind the book. The six issue miniseries will debut with two issues in December.
DC New Age of Heroes: DC’s YouTube channel has given us a sneak peak of the Dark Matter line that will follow Dark Metal event. Basically they got a bunch of veteran artists to create brand new characters that spin out of Dark Nights: Metal. Or something like that.
Batman Annual #2: here’s another cool sneak peek from the upcoming comic book.

Misc: Not, much going on so I’ll mention that Mr. Oz’s identity has been revealed. I’m not caught up but I won’t spoil it for the rest of you. It’s silly anyway. I won’t bother talking about the Superman protecting immigrants stuff, it’s just people making news out of nothing.
Also the Dark Nights tie-in Batman Lost had a whole creative team mixup so if you were looking forward to that then make sure to check out the new artists.
