Ben Affleck Steps Down As Director For The Batman

Ready to have your heart broken? Ben Affleck has announced that he won’t be directing the much anticipated Batman solo film, but he will still produce and star in it.

In a statement released to Variety Ben Affleck added:

“Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Variety also reports that this has nothing to do with Live By Night’s underwhelming release, and that Planet of the Apes reboot director Matt Reeves, is on WB’s shortlist for new director,

This all sounds like PR bullcrap. He was so frustrated on the Live By Night press tour and didn’t seem happy with something going on behind the scenes. One of the things that sold fans on Ben Affleck potraying Batman was the fact that he would probably direct the solo movie.

Things just don’t seem to be going Warner Brothers’ way. The Flash lost its second director a while back and it was recently reported that they would throw away the current script and start from scratch.  Suicide Squad director has given the candid statements on Twitter about what he would have done differently on the movie if he had a time machine.

There will be a lot of chicken littles coming out after this Batman news, but Wonder Woman and Justice League are on the way. One win could turn the mood around drastically.

The new Justice League image came from Empire Magazine. I forgot to post it a few days ago so here it is, I wish it came with better news.
