Kevin Conroy won’t return for Batman Arkham Origins

The man who voiced Batman for Arkham City, Arkham Asylum and the Animated Series, Kevin Conroy, will NOT be returning to voice Batman in Arkham Origins.

NAG Magazine revealed that WB Games Montreal have decided to go with a new voice talent to reflect their younger version of the Dark Knight. The identity of this voice actor has not yet been revealed.

DISCUSS your obvious disappointment.

    oh for fuck sake…
you should have signed that man a fucking blank check you bunch of complete retards… fuck the younger batman, voices don’t change that much and if batman is supposed to sound threatening… I’ll bet Hamill isn’t back either… this is a huge disappointment. I’m sure the new guy is good and all but don’t fix what ain’t broken, make the game your own, but don’t fuck with the cast

    • Nightwingfan says:

Actually, Hamill said two years ago that he’s done voicing the Joker, and would only return to do an adaption of “The Killing Joke.” And hopefully they’ll get Bruce Greenwood as he’s the second best Batman voice and deserves to voice him in things other than Under the Red Hood(best movie ever!!) and Young Justice(best show ever!!).

      • John Ts says:

Agreed.Bruce Greenwood can do it.But even Greenwood’s Batman voice is not strictly “young” so….

  2. Chip says:

im tired of the greenwood suggestions…the actor bruce greenwood is the same damn age kevin F***ing conroy, so tht wouldn’t make a lot of damn sense for a “younger batman”

    and furthermore
im not saying this isn’t true, but I am saying…WTF does NAG magazine know, why would a South African gaming mag get this scoop, and also I couldn’t find anything that said that on their website. so again im not saying it isn’t true, and it will suck if it is…..but lets wait till we here it from the horses mouth before we all Flip out man!

  3. Chip says:

well shit upon further review it looks to be true lol….whoever they get will be fine im sure…but that still sucks

  4. Pennyworth says:

Doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s a younger Batman, it would be awfully strange if he sounded just the same.

  8. Chris says:

As much as I love Conroy (KC), I’m sure his replacement will be… adequate. I like what Bruce Greenwood has brought to the character, but he is too old to relace KC. I personally, would like to see/hear Troy Baker take over; he sounds JUST enough like KC to pull off a younger version of His Caped Crusader. Not to mention that Baker is Booker Dewitt in Bioshock Infinite. Nuff said?

No one can replace KC. But I think that if Baker did a more serious approach than his turn as Batman in LEGO Batman, he could really do the role Jusice…

    • TFDutchman says:

Baker would be pulling double duty if he were to get the Batman gig, especially if Harvey Dent returns. Baker’s normal Two-Face voice is practically why Booker and Lego Batman sounds like, so he’d definitely have to channel his inner Conroy to differentiate himself from Two-Face.

  22. ArkamOrigins234 says:

The reason why Kevin Conroy is not going to be in the game is because this before Arkam Asylum and City. This is the origin of the Batmans life. The beginning. His voice needed to be younger. To be honest I think thats stubborn, but its their choice.

  23. ArkamOrigins234 says:

But I have heard Kevin Conroy speak and his voice is not deep at all. And Bruce Wayne’s voice is not supposed to be deep, but Batman’s is meant to be deep. Always you can hear the difference between Bruce Waynes and Batman’s.

  24. Batman Fan says:

Kevin Conroy was the Batman I grew up with too. And making the game without Kevin Conroy is the ultimate disrespect to die hard Batman Fans. I’m not convinced that Kevin Conroy can’t change his vocal chords to a younger Batman. Kevin Conroy is a professional voice actor, this is what he does, his job. You’re not even giving him a chance. If you ask me, you people don’t know talent when you see one and also selfish. If no Kevin Conroy, then I won’t support the game at all. Remember it’s not the quantity that makes Batman good, it’s the quality.

  25. Adam Johnson says:

I was at Kevin’s Q&A at Dallas Comic con yesterday and he said he IS doing the game and has already completed months of work on it.
